No - you may be trained by experience or have been trained in-house.  However, to ensure you have the best chance of passing your assessment we recommend you undertake training as operating standards and regulations change. 

Training Providers 

It is recommended you also use the Qualification Handbook/Assessment Pack as a revision tool in addition to any training course material.

  • Please download and complete the Registration Form. 
  • Email a scan/photo of your official ID evidence, i.e. photocard driving licence or passport.
  • Provide a passport-style photo (shoulders upwards against a plain, light background) in jpg format.  Candidates must have a neutral expression and no headwear or logos should be worn. Many people take a 'selfie' on their phone.  This is required for your Digital ID Card.

Please email the above to NPTC@ccn.ac.uk confirming what you/your employees would like to be assessed in and provide a rough indication of timescales.  Please confirm your contact details.  We will then contact you to discuss and arrange the assessment.

The price includes the assessment, registration with City & Guilds, paper certificate, ID Card (if we have been provided with a photo prior to assessment) and Digital Credential.

Assessments normally take place at your Training Provider's site or your own site (subject to the assessment requirements being met).  It varies so please Get In Touch

 

Please see the qualification page for an indication of duration, the actual time taken will depend on factors such as experience/competency and access to assessment equipment/sites.

Yes.  Candidates must provide their own equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) unless agreed in advance with the training provider/Norfolk Proficiency Tests Committee. 

See Information & Price List for an indication of PPE requirements - your training provider should confirm the PPE which is required for the qualification you are undertaking. 

0216-73 (PA1) - usually straight after the training (subject to exam conditions being met).

Independent assessment - on a separate day to the training.

Non-Independent assessment - it depends on the number of candidates and qualification.  It may be on the same day or a separate day to the training.

If you achieved through City & Guilds you should be able to check your certificate, if you can't find it we can check the system.  If you achieved the equivalent qualification through another awarding body, certificate evidence must be provided to Norfolk Proficiency Tests Committee prior to registration (a scanned copy emailed to NPTC@ccn.ac.uk ). City & Guilds Certificates of Competence are life-long (with the exception to Vertebrate Pest Control for Rats and Mice (PA-R&M) - see Vertebrate Pest Control 

Please note that candidates are required to undertake regular refresher training (usually every 3-5 years) to comply with industry regulations and Health & Safety law. For Utility Arboriculture candidates are required to undertake refresher training every 3 years.

If you have misplaced your certificate you can request a replacement by contacting City & Guilds Customer Services on 01924 930800, select option 5.  If you know your City & Guilds candidate/enrolment (ENR) number - this will help them find you on the system.

The cost is £50 for a replacement certificate.  If you only require the old style ID card issued before June 2025 it costs £10. They accept credit and debit card payments.

Please note that employers cannot request a replacement certificate - only candidates can.

Paper ID cards have been replaced by Digital ID cards - these will be emailed at the same time as your E-certificate. If we were not provided with a passport-style photo prior to assessment your Digital ID card will contain a silhouette.  To reproduce at a later date with your photo will incur a charge of £10.  Please Get In Touch

Animal Transport - usually 3-4 weeks

All other qualifications - usually 3 weeks

Paper certificates will be sent as Royal Mail 2nd Class to the address we were provided at registration.

E-certificates and Digital ID Cards will be emailed to the email address we were provided at registration and you will be informed your paper certificate has been posted.  If you do not receive your paper certificate you must contact us within 7 days of our email to notify us it has not arrived. After this period we cannot request a free of charge replacement and you will need to contact City & Guilds who will charge a fee. To report, please Get In Touch

You will receive an email from City & Guilds to claim your Digital Credential (providing we were provided with an email address).
